Exploring Movement Profiles
Tuesday, April 20, 2021 @ 5:30 pm PDT / 8:30 pm EDT Live via Zoom and via recording for two weeks afterward Movement therapist and holistic arts educator Jenna Spinei, who has degrees in Movement Science and Dance Movement Psychotherapy, will help us to discover our movement profiles, release limiting patterns, and explore new ideas for daily practice. REGISTRATION has concluded; please join our next event! |
This workshop will foster awareness of the link between our physical movements, mental state, and verbal expressions. It is ideal for all of us who find we are going through life with a certain mode of interaction (direct vs. indirect, etc.), and for singers/actors it can aid in understanding which aspects of physicality are present or absent in auditions and in inhabiting characters.
|
"We will have the opportunity to cultivate mind-body connection, experience embodying a wide range of movement qualities and efforts, identify imbalances and practice tools to create balance for our own bodies.
A guided movement warmup will begin with seated breathing and move into standing full body movements. Movement prompts and music will allow each of us to embody a variety of juxtaposed pairs of movement qualities and efforts, choosing to move as gently or vigorously as feels right; use of voice will be optional.” – Jenna Spinei |
Future sessions by Jenna Spinei include a flow movement meditation and a series of Laban/Bartenieff classes to delve further into habitual movement patterns and the connections to the mind and voice.

We will explore and integrate traditional medicine models, body-centered mindfulness techniques, and simple movement exercises like Qi Gong to help anchor our certainty in moving forward and voicing what matters."
- Kathy J.
Open to anyone who is interested, singers and non-singers (if there is such a thing!). 1 hour, $20. (EVENT CURRENTLY CLOSED)
